    DRX9000 vs Regular Traction

Regular traction and DRX9000 spinal decompression are often grouped together, but they are not the same. Regular traction generally applies a pulling force. DRX9000 decompression is designed around patient positioning, disc targeting, and clinical selection.

This page explains the practical differences between general traction and DRX9000 decompression, why evaluation matters first, and why disc-related back or neck pain should not be treated with a one-size-fits-all approach.

Answer a few questions. If your case appears appropriate, you’ll be guided to the next step.

    Practical Difference

Regular Traction and DRX9000 Are Not the Same

    Regular Traction

A broad category of spinal stretching. It may be manual, mechanical, or device-based, and the effect can vary by force, positioning, setup, and patient fit.

    DRX9000 Decompression

A computer-guided decompression system used for selected disc-related cases. The difference is not stronger pulling. It is more controlled positioning and treatment parameters based on the clinical picture.

Neither approach should be used blindly. Symptoms, exam findings, history, and imaging context still matter before decompression care is recommended.

    Clinical Judgment

The Machine Matters. Case Selection Matters More.

DRX9000 technology is only useful when the clinical picture supports decompression care. The decision should not be based on the name of the device alone.

    Patient Selection

Not every back or neck pain case belongs on a decompression table.

    Disc or Nerve Pattern

The condition should match a disc or nerve-related presentation, not just general soreness.

    Targeting and Positioning

DRX9000 care depends on clinical setup, positioning, and the area being evaluated.

Advanced equipment does not replace clinical judgment. The goal is to determine whether the patient is the right fit for decompression care.

When Regular Traction May Not Be Enough

Some patients have already tried stretching, therapy, traction, or general conservative care without meaningful improvement.

That does not automatically mean DRX9000 decompression is the answer. It may mean the case needs a more specific disc-focused evaluation instead of another general stretching approach.

Not Sure If Decompression Is Right for Your Case?

Start with the evaluation. It helps determine whether your symptoms may fit decompression care.
